Basement & Cellar Waterproofing
Basement and cellar tanking involves applying waterproof coatings or systems to the internal or external faces of below-ground walls and floors to prevent water ingress. We design and install appropriate waterproofing systems for all types of below-ground construction.
Applications
- Residential basements and cellars
- Retaining walls
- Underpinned walls
- Brick and stone vaulted cellars
- Below-ground car parks
- Swimming pool surrounds
Waterproofing Methods
Type A — Barrier protection
Cementitious slurry coatings, crystalline materials or tanking slurry applied to the structure itself. Best for walls with a reasonable level of structural integrity.
Type B — Structurally integral
Waterproof concrete construction where the concrete itself is the waterproofing element.
Type C — Drained cavity
Cavity drain membrane systems which allow water in but channel it to a sump pump. Suitable where external waterproofing is not possible.
Expert advice first. Basement waterproofing is highly dependent on the construction type, ground conditions and intended use of the space. We always survey first and recommend the correct system — not the most expensive one.
